Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Prohor Georgiev (ranked 1566 p4p, 168 weight class) and Roger Andermatt (ranked 1862 p4p, 194 weight class). Georgiev's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Oxxxymiron - City under the sole. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Prohor Georgiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roger Andermatt!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Georgiev misses with a straight right.

Andermatt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

We've been hearing that Georgiev has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Georgiev swings around for an armbar but Andermatt sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Georgiev's guard.
Georgiev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Andermatt is fighting to break Georgiev's control of his arms but Georgiev is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Andermatt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Georgiev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Georgiev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Andermatt defends well.

Georgiev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Andermatt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Georgiev isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Andermatt stacks Georgiev on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Andermatt!
Georgiev manages to work his way to half guard, despite Andermatt's best efforts.

Roger Andermatt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

It seemed like Andermatt was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Andermatt pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Georgiev back to the cage. Andermatt follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Prohor Georgiev has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

In his post fight interview, Prohor Georgiev started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
