Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alphonse Miller (ranked 23659 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Mitchell (ranked 4986 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alphonse Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charlie Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mitchell gets a takedown into half guard.

Mitchell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mitchell content to control rather than advance.
It looks like Mitchell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mitchell is working away from the top position though.

Mitchell not doing much here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Miller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Miller gets caught flat footed, as Mitchell shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Miller pushes Mitchell off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Miller tries to sprawl but Mitchell drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Mitchell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Miller to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Miller won't allow Mitchell to get back to his feet.
Miller throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mitchell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mitchell has his foot on Miller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Miller works his way back into a safe position though.
Mitchell pulls Miller in close to his closed guard and prevents Miller from doing any damage or advancing position.

Miller is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mitchell is just riding it out for now. Miller eventually gives up the hold.
Mitchell is looking for a sweep. Miller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Miller looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mitchell tries to roll over but Miller keeps him under control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mitchell is doing well to control the position and prevent Miller from advancing to side control.
Miller throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mitchell gets full guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mitchell takes a swing at Miller's ribcage but misses.
Mitchell looks to land a body kick but Miller moved away.

Mitchell slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mitchell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Miller sees it coming and defends easily.

Mitchell stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Miller to get to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Mitchell gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Miller tries for a takedown but Mitchell manages to get underhooks.

Mitchell throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Millers head.

Mitchell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Alphonse Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mitchell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mitchell advances position into side control!
Miller seems a little lost for a moment, as Mitchell dominates the positioning.
Miller gets back to half guard.
Mitchell sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miller trying to hold on to Mitchell's head to control him but Mitchell postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Mitchell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Miller shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mitchell as he jumps to the side.

Mitchell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mitchell is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Mitchell has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Miller gets tackled into the cage by Mitchell. Mitchell maintains the clinch.

Mitchell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mitchell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mitchell has momentary wrist control but Miller slips an elbow through the middle.
Miller makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Miller throws a big right hand that misses.
Mitchell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Miller in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Mitchell is striking off his back. Miller thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Mitchell is trying to stand up here but Miller is controlling him well.
Mitchell is looking to control Miller's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mitchell avoid being mounted?

Miller could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Miller scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Miller thows a huge punch but Mitchell dodges it nicely.
Mitchell is trying to maintain the position but Miller is very close to passing his half guard.
Mitchell regains full guard. Nicely done.
Mitchell takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Miller postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mitchell wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mitchell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitchell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Miller is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fighters circling - Mitchell throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alphonse Miller.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
