PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stanley Steele (ranked 138 p4p, 22 weight class) and Dylan Peterson (ranked 647 p4p, 91 weight class). Steele comes to the ring accompanied by Manowar - Heart of Steel. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dylan Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Steele defends it nicely.
Steele takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Peterson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Steele circles away.
Steele cracks Peterson with a good jab.
Peterson missing with a left hand there. Steele was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Peterson lands with a straight right. Steele didn't see that one coming.

A short body shot lands from Steele as the two fighters clinch.
Peterson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Steele walks away with a smile on his face. Peterson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Steele is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Peterson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Peterson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Steele's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Peterson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Peterson working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Steele is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peterson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
