Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sergej Meyer!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Meyer tries to clinch up.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Johnson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Meyer - the referee stops the clock and Johnson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Meyer. Johnson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Meyer fails in his attempt to clinch.
Johnson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Meyer sprawls and moves away.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Meyer!


It looks like James Johnson has been cut.
Meyer connects with a nice looking jab.
Meyer tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Meyer misses with a head kick.
Johnson seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Meyer misses with a double jab

and Johnson moves into the clinch.

Meyer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Johnson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Meyer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Johnson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Sergej Meyer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Meyer has closed the distance and engaged Johnson in a clinch.
Meyer lands a hook that snaps the head of Johnson backwards.
Johnson tries to pull guard but Meyer won't allow it.
Johnson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Meyer working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Meyer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.

Johnson jumps guard but Meyer turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Meyer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Meyer lands a left and a right that send Johnson crashing to the mat, dazed. Meyer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Johnson is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Meyer connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Johnson to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Meyer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Sergej Meyer!
