Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeff Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Escorre!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Escorre.
Escorre lands with a shot to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Castro.
Castro fakes the leg kick and cracks Escorre in the body.
Castro shoots in looking for a takedown but Escorre manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Castro's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Escorre with the counter takedown but Castro avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Castro.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Escorre wants to get back to his feet.

Castro really is a fat lump.
Castro looks up at the clock and then as Escorre takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Castro smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Castro wants to control but Escorre is keeping him busy.
Castro in side control lands a decent elbow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Escorre pushes Castro away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Castro gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Castro controls the position from side control.
Escorre is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Castro asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Escorre keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Castro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Castro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A solid leg kick lands there for Castro.
Castro throws a wild body kick that Escorre sees coming a mile off.
Escorre with the counter takedown but Castro avoids it easily.
Escorre dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Castro on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Castro takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nice sprawl there from Escorre as Castro shoots in.
Castro is breathing heavily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Castro.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Escorre throws a series of punches but Castro moves out of range.
Escorre keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Claudio Escorre dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Escorre lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Jeff Castro has been cut.
Escorre throws a shot to the body.
Castro shoots for a takedown but Escorre saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Escorre has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Castro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Escorre swivels and escapes.
Castro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Escorre sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Escorre cracks a nice hook into Castro's ribs.
Escorre lands a right hook to the body.
Castro has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Castro takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Escorre moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


Castro is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Escorre has cracked Castro with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Escorre lands another huge swinging hook and Castro tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Castro, before Escorre can land any more shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Claudio Escorre!
