Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lyman Barrett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Xylur Dain Jr!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dain Jr closes the distance and clinches.

Dain Jr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dain Jr has closed the distance and engaged Barrett in a clinch.

Dain Jr jumps guard and drags Barrett to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barrett lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Dain Jr wants to sweep but no luck.
Barrett throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Barrett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Barrett is standing up over Dain Jr. Dain Jr looks to escape but Barrett dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barrett tries to score with some ground and pound. Dain Jr controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Barrett creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Barrett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dain Jr is looking to control Barrett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dain Jr avoid being mounted?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dain Jr wants to get back to full guard.
Dain Jr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barrett's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barrett's back!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Dain Jr's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Barrett is in bad spot here.
Dain Jr is trying to stick to Barrett's back but Barrett is turning into Dain Jr. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Dain Jr's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Barrett.
Dain Jr is looking to stand up but Barrett isn't so interested in that idea.
Barrett lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Dain Jr keeping moving, preventing Barrett from controlling successfully.
Barrett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dain Jr looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barrett is one step ahead there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barrett throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Barrett will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dain Jr is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Barrett presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Barrett is trying to break free.

Barrett breaks the clinch.
Dain Jr shoots in looking for a takedown. Barrett tries to sprawl out of it but Dain Jr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barrett manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Dain Jr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dain Jr showed some decent athleticism there.
Barrett makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Barrett.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dain Jr wants to control from the top but Barrett keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Xylur Dain Jr will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Barrett tries to bum rush Dain Jr with a series of wild strikes but Dain Jr uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Barrett connects with a right hand. Dain Jr shakes it off.
Dain Jr takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Barrett throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dain Jr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Dain Jr closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barrett did well to prevent Dain Jr getting side control.
Barrett is trying to stand back up but Dain Jr is controlling him
Dain Jr is looking to stall here but Barrett recovers full guard.
Barrett wants to sweep here but Dain Jr controlling him for the moment.

Barrett not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Barrett is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dain Jr is controlling him.

Dain Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barrett is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barrett has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Barrett scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Barrett is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Barrett slips a jab and a cross from Dain Jr.
Barrett misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Dain Jr moves in looking to clinch but Barrett pushes him off.

Dain Jr changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barrett looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dain Jr is breathing heavily.
Barrett is not content to let Dain Jr control the position.

Dain Jr decides to stand back up.
Barrett swings for the body but Dain Jr moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Barrett.
Dain Jr tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barrett can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dain Jr is looking to escape.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Dain Jr looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Barrett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dain Jr postures up in Barrett's guard and throws a big left but Barrett blocks it.
Dain Jr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Barrett pulls Dain Jr in close to prevent any damage.
Dain Jr seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dain Jr tries for a takedown but Barrett sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lyman Barrett showed his dominance in that final round.
