Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sheldon Hammond (ranked 23722 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Amore (ranked 6423 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter Amore has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sheldon Hammond's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sheldon Hammond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hunter Amore!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammond scores with a jab to the head.

Hammond's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hammond moves into range and clinches up with Amore.
Amore is looking to break free of the clinch but Hammond has double underhooks.

Amore pulls Hammond into guard.

Amore has momentary wrist control but Hammond slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammond is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hammond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hammond stands and steps away. Amore gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

You can see the frustration on Hammond's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Amore working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hammond has one of Amore's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Hammond escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hammond gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Amore to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hammond's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammond is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close round but I would say that Sheldon Hammond will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Amore feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hammond holds on and takes a little breather.
Amore wants to stand but Hammond has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Amore is working an open guard so Hammond takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hammond rushes Amore and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Amore feints and as Hammond raises his hands in defense, Amore changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Amore must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Amore is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hammond is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hammond has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Amore throws a right and a left that Hammond avoids nicely.

Hammond drives through and clinches with Amore against the cage.

Amore attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Hammond wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Hammond has his hands clasped together around Amore's back. He's all about the action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sheldon Hammond.
Well Hammond has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
