Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jaime Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marco Soprano!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soprano rushes Jr and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Soprano tries to circle away but Jr has him pinned against the cage.
Soprano is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Jr tries to break the clinch but Soprano is controlling the position.
Soprano stalling in the clinch but Jr improves position.

Soprano's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jr stuffs the takedown.
Soprano shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jr as he jumps to the side.
Marco Soprano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soprano thows a leg kick but Jr checks it

and Jr counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jr perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jr's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jr is trying to work for a kimura but Soprano is defending well.
Jr with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jr thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Soprano's head.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Soprano has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jr is landing a low percentage of strikes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Soprano gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Soprano wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jr has him pressed against the cage.
Soprano wants to break free but Jr has control.
Jr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Soprano's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Soprano shoots in for a double leg but Jr sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jr is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Soprano.
Jaime Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Soprano.

Jr clinches up against the cage.
Jr tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Soprano prevents Jr from breaking the clinch.
Jr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Soprano avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Soprano stalls.
A head punch on the inside from Soprano fails to land.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Jr tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Soprano just stands there and leans against the cage.
Soprano lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Soprano lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Soprano lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jr backwards.
Jr wants a takedown.
Jr has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Soprano after a bit of a struggle.
Jr wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Soprano lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Jr wants to break free but Soprano has control.
Soprano is trying to break the clinch but Jr is controlling him.
Soprano wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Soprano wants to stall.
Soprano lands a hook that snaps the head of Jr backwards.
Jr prevents Soprano from breaking the clinch.
Soprano lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jr backwards.
Soprano has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Soprano tries to circle away but Jr has him pinned against the cage.

Soprano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jr stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jr wants it to stay on the feet.
Soprano shoots for a double leg takedown but Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Soprano's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Soprano looks winded!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Soprano rushes Jr and presses him up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Soprano wants to get back to striking at distance but Jr won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marco Soprano dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Soprano tries for a takedown but Jr circles away easily

and Jr counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jr.
Soprano being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jr seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Soprano for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Soprano misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Jr drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Soprano parries the strikes from Jr easily there. Jr is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Soprano to escape.
Jr is working Soprano over with some ground and pound from side control.

Jr goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Soprano has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jr but great work by Soprano.
Soprano tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Soprano decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Jaime Jr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soprano pinned against the cage. Soprano gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Soprano shoots in looking for a takedown but Jr manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Soprano's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jr went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jaime Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Soprano.
Soprano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jr circles away.
Soprano throws a leg kick but Jr moved away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jr gets tackled into the cage by Soprano. Soprano maintains the clinch.
Soprano is trying to force a seperation but Jr has the dominant position.
Jr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Soprano has him pressed against the cage.

Jr can't get the takedown.
A short left from Soprano.
Jr stalls.
Jr jumps guard but Soprano stands there with Jr around his waist. Jr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Soprano has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jr keeps control of Soprano as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Soprano wants to break the clinch but can't.
Soprano is trying to force a seperation but Jr has the dominant position.
Soprano avoiding damage.
Jr is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Soprano is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Soprano scores with a nice hook to the head.

Jr is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Soprano can't fight it off and eventually Jr manages to take the fight to the floor. Soprano looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Marco Soprano will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Soprano takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soprano is trying to stand up here but Jr is controlling him well.

Jr closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Soprano quickly recovers to half guard.

Jr is nestled in close to Soprano, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Jaime Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jaime Jr showed his dominance in that final round.
