The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daucourt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Basington's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Basington has momentary wrist control but Daucourt slips an elbow through the middle.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Basington can do anything to dispel that myth.

Daucourt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Daucourt looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Basington with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Basington is rocked!
Daucourt lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Basington quite badly. Basington pulls Daucourt in close trying to recover. Daucourt postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Basington on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Basington doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
