Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Lipski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Lewis !
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Lewis .
Lipski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lewis tries to avoid it but Lipski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lewis to the ground. Lewis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lewis throws out a powerful jab.


It looks like Gabriel Lipski has been cut.
Nice sprawl there from Lewis as Lipski shoots in.
Lipski avoids the head kick by Lewis .
Lipski fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel Lipski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lipski misses with a two punch combination.
Some wild striking there from Lewis .

Lipski darts in and clinches Lewis up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lipski blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Lipski drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lewis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lewis is trying to break free.

Lewis wants to break free but Lipski has control.
Lewis is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lipski is keeping busy.

Lipski has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lewis uses from the top position.
Lewis wants to stand but Lipski is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lipski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lipski has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Lewis is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Lewis prevents the takedown attempt.
Lewis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Lipski takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Lipski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lewis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lewis tries to keep at a distance but Lipski has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lewis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lipski throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lipski escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lewis connects with a right hand. Lipski shakes it off.
Lewis misses with a hook. Lipski ducked under it nicely.
It looked like Lipski was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lewis .
Lipski tries to move into range but Lewis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Lewis thumps Lipski with a low kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lewis tries to circle away but Lipski has him pinned against the cage.

Lipski pulls guard successfully.

Lewis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lipski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lewis has managed to get both his arms back between Lipski's legs - danger averted.

Lipski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lewis defends well.
Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lipski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lipski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lewis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lewis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lipski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lewis has managed to get both his arms back between Lipski's legs - danger averted.

Lipski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lewis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lewis is looking to stand up but Lipski won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gabriel Lipski will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lewis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lewis digs a good hook to Lipski's body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Lewis .
Lewis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lipski.
Lewis stuffs the takedown attempt from Lipski. Lipski gets slowly back to his feet.
Derrick Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lipski shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel Lipski. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lewis lands a big head kick that sends Lipski tumbling to the mat! Lewis takes a step backwards and waves Lipski back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lipski shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lewis defends it nicely.
Lewis sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Lipski's defenses. It connects perfectly with Lipski's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Derrick Lewis !
Derrick Lewis took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
