The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Franks. No joy for Maldono on that attempt.
A counter left hand to the body from Franks misses its target.
Maldono tries for a takedown but Franks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Franks shoots in but Maldono avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Maldono tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Franks stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Franks wants it to stay on the feet.

Franks content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Maldono has locked up a guillotine! Maldono's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Franks is holding on here and Maldono must be using up a lot of energy. Franks has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Maldono gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
