PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Horace Mcclure (ranked 24448 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Chow (ranked 4918 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Horace Mcclure!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kevin Chow!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcclure has taken the fight to the clinch.
Chow blocks a body shot from Mcclure.

Mcclure jumps guard and drags Chow to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Mcclure is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Chow sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mcclure's guard.

Chow wants to work for an arm triangle but Mcclure is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Chow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcclure keeps working.
Mcclure wants to improve his position but Chow is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chow is looking for a kimura here.
Mcclure tries to roll over but Chow keeps him under control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chow is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Chow is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mcclure doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chow.
Mcclure is controlling Chow's position as best he can from this difficult position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mcclure wants to control but Chow is keeping busy.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mcclure is looking to improve his position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mcclure moves into range and clinches up with Chow.
Chow on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Mcclure misses with a hook from the clinch.
Mcclure misses with some punches.
Mcclure throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Chow fails to pull guard.
Chow jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mcclure walks away with a smile on his face. Chow gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mcclure clinches up against the cage.

Mcclure pulls guard effortlessly.
Chow prevents Mcclure from getting back to his feet.

Mcclure keeping moving, preventing Chow from controlling successfully.
Mcclure pulls Chow in close to his closed guard and prevents Chow from doing any damage or advancing position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Horace Mcclure dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mcclure rushes Chow and presses him up against the cage.

Mcclure decides to pull guard.
Chow wants to pass the guard but Mcclure is keeping the position.
Chow sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Mcclure tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcclure has control of Chow's left arm, preventing Chow from doing any damage.

Chow pushing down on Mcclure's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Mcclure wants to get back to his feet.
Mcclure is controlling Chow's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Chow seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mcclure does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mcclure moves into range and clinches up with Chow.
Mcclure tries to pull guard but Chow won't allow it.
Mcclure struggles to land a body shot inside as Chow controls his hands.

Chow gets control of Mcclure's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chow will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Chow wants to sweep here but Mcclure controlling him for the moment.
Mcclure throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Chow has his foot on Mcclure's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcclure works his way back into a safe position though.

Chow might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mcclure haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Chow changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mcclure fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Mcclure ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mcclure no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mcclure tries to close the distance and clinch but Chow swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chow tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mcclure wants to get back to striking at distance but Chow won't allow it.

Mcclure is pulling down on Chow's head. It's preventing any offense from Chow, at least for the moment.
