Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Blackblood (ranked 7023 p4p, 418 weight class) and Jim Gray (ranked 4545 p4p, 349 weight class). Gray is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by House of Pain - Jump Around. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Xavier Blackblood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Gray!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gray closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gray trying to control from Blackblood's half guard. Blackblood has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Blackblood seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Blackblood will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gray breaks Blackblood's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Gray is looking to work some ground and pound but Blackblood has wrist control.

Gray stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blackblood swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Gray dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Blackblood drops Gray with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Gray looks back up at him and smiles so Blackblood waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


It looks like Jim Gray has been cut.
Gray wants to clinch.
It looked like Blackblood wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Blackblood avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Blackblood avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Blackblood on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Gray throws a left and a right that both miss

and Blackblood counters with a crisp right hand that drops Gray! Blackblood lets Gray back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Gray is rocked!

Gray has his takedown stuffed
and Blackblood makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
We've been told by Blackblood's head coaches at Q Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gray shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blackblood as he avoids it easily.
Jim Gray is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gray tries to close the distance and clinch up but Blackblood swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Blackblood swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Xavier Blackblood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Gray.

and Blackblood makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Gray is breathing heavily.
Gray fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Blackblood avoids it really well and circles away.

and Blackblood counters with a nice right hand that sends Gray toppling to the canvas! Gray scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Blackblood finish him?!
Gray is still on wobbly legs! Can Blackblood finish him?
Blackblood fakes the body blow, causing Gray to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Gray goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Xavier Blackblood bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
