Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jedidiah Young (ranked 3139 p4p, 284 weight class) and Mono Loco (ranked 3079 p4p, 282 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loco with a poor takedown
and Loco takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Loco shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Young's guard.

Young kicks Loco off and gets to his feet.
Loco fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Loco shoots in but Young avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Young appears to be looking for a big counter.
Jedidiah Young has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mono Loco.
Loco looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
The crowd cheers as Young lands an impressive looking overhand right. Loco doesn't seem phased though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Loco shoots in looking for a takedown but Young manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Loco's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Young is looking to counter punch.
Loco misses with a takedown attempt
and Young counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Mono Loco has been cut.
Young throws an overhand right that lands on Loco's shoulder, as Loco tries to avoid the shot.
Nice takedown defense from Young. No joy for Loco on that attempt.
Loco on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Loco doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Young cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jedidiah Young is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Loco has his takedown stuffed
and Young counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Young looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Young looks to score with a jab to the body but Loco is just out of range.
Young stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Young wants it to stay on the feet.

Loco drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Young is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Eric's Play Pen, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Young tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Loco wants to control but Young is keeping him busy.
Young tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Loco wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Young is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Loco's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Young holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Loco passes into side control, despite Young's attempt to control the position.
Loco misses with the ground and pound.
Young is trying to improve his position.
Young throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Young tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Loco is looking to take a break and control but Young is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Loco is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Young has escaped the position, nice work there.
Loco advances to full mount.
Loco controlling from the full mount.

Young tries to improve his position but Loco has taken his back! Loco has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Young tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Loco pushes Young away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mono Loco!
