The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn Jr misses with a hook.
Garcia swings for the body but Penn Jr moves out of range.
Penn Jr moves forwards but Garcia connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A left and a right from Garcia both land. Nice combination.
Rodney Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn Jr throws a left and a right that both miss
and Penn Jr takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Garcia misses with a left hand
and Penn Jr makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Garcia misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Penn Jr.
Garcia fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Penn Jr is out of range.
Garcia plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Garcia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A thudding body kick lands there by Garcia!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penn Jr looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Garcia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Penn Jr manages to avoid it.
The fighters circling - Penn Jr throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Garcia tries for a takedown but Penn Jr circles away easily
and Penn Jr counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Garcia throws a head kick but Penn Jr moves out of range.
A jab from Penn Jr finds it's way through Garcia's defenses.
Garcia walks into a left hand.
It looks like Rodney Garcia has been cut.
Garcia cracks Penn Jr with a right hand to the side of the head.
Steel Penn Jr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Penn Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Garcia scores with a jab to the head.
Garcia throws a sloppy head kick
and Penn Jr counters with a head kick that drops Garcia to the mat! Garcia scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Garcia is rocked!
Penn Jr steps in with a hook that catches Garcia right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Penn Jr follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Garcia looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steel Penn Jr!
After the fight, Steel Penn Jr was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
