Stern's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Great American Nightmare. Howard Stern has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cain!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stern connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cain. Cain circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Cain throws a nice looking combination but Stern bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Stern tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cain paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Cain's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Stern connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cain scrambles back to his feet.
We've been informed that Cain has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Stern stalks Cain and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cain's face. Cain staggers backwards, shaken.

Cain lands a big head kick that sends Stern tumbling to the mat! Cain takes a step backwards and waves Stern back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Cain buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cain fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Stern has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stern lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cain has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cain and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Cain lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stern circles away quickly and effectively.

Cain cracks Stern with a good jab.
Stern takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Cain throws a good cross that connects.
Cain lands a jab-cross combination.
Stern connects with a single shot there.
Stern on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Cain stuns Stern with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cain connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stern takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Cain scoring well with a low kick there.
Stern steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Cain. That one must have hurt.
Cain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cain lets loose with a powerful body kick. Stern will feel that in the morning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Cain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cain takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cain, right into the meat.
Stern misses with an uppercut. Cain saw that one coming.
Stern thows a leg kick but Cain checks it
enabling Cain to counter with a crisp jab.
Cain goes for a small jab and connects. Now Cain goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Stern stumbles back but Cain runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Stern to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Stern will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
