The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lexington tries for a takedown but Simmons circles away easily
and Simmons counters with a head kick. That will keep Lexington thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Simmons shoots in for a takedown but Lexington shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lexington drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Simmons defends it well.
Chad Lexington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lexington pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lexington feints and as Simmons raises his hands in defense, Lexington changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Simmons has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lexington can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lexington wants to control from the top but Simmons keeps moving.

Simmons has his foot on Lexington's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lexington works his way back into a safe position though.
Simmons wants to get back to his feet but Lexington is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lexington seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lexington gets to his feet and stands over Simmons, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Simmons felt that one! Lexington unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Simmons from any more punishment!
