Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donte Bowen (ranked 6383 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Poulin (ranked 4990 p4p, 0 weight class). Chuck Poulin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donte Bowen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Poulin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poulin clinches.

Poulin manages to break the clinch.

Poulin rushes Bowen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Bowen pulls guard successfully.

Bowen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Poulin is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bowen dives into side control.

Bowen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Poulin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bowen's guard! Nice work there by Poulin!
Bowen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Poulin manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bowen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Poulin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bowen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Poulin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bowen manages to pass to side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Well, if Bowen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Poulin is defending against the submission attempts here by Bowen.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Poulin tries to kick Bowen off but Bowen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Poulin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

and Poulin counters with a nice uppercut.

Bowen goes for a double leg but Poulin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Poulin continues to drive forward.
Bowen takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Poulin is breathing heavily.

Poulin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Poulin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Poulin is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bowen is defending well for now.

Poulin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bowen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bowen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Poulin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donte Bowen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheers as Poulin lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bowen doesn't seem phased though.

Poulin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bowen, pushing him back against the cage.
Bowen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Poulin pulls his leg out and moves away.
A telegraphed right hand from Poulin misses the target.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Bowen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Poulin tries to kick Bowen off in order to stand up. Bowen Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Poulin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Bowen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Poulin to see if he's OK.
Poulin is looking to get back to his feet here but Bowen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Poulin's back.
Poulin is trying to get back to his feet but Bowen has full control of the position and if anything, Poulin has just worked his way into a worse spot.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Bowen controlling the positon.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Poulin wants to get back to his feet.
Bowen slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Chuck Poulin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bowen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Poulin was covering up waiting for the punch and Bowen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bowen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poulin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bowen is controlling him.

Bowen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bowen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bowen fails with a takedown attempt.

and Bowen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Poulin!
Poulin tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Bowen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Poulin is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Donte Bowen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

I would just about give that final round to Chuck Poulin.
