Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Brian (ranked 3205 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert River (ranked 4762 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Brian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bert River!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brian. That did some damage!

Brian drives through and clinches with River against the cage.

Brian breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
River swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Brian decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brian in particular looking to stall.

Brian is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, River has managed to free his arm - good work.
River is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brian performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Brian's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Still in half guard, Brian seems content to control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Brian with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Brian decides to stand and escape the position.
River ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brian moves away.
River will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
River rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Brian holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from River fails to land.

Brian breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brian sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Brian throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Bert River has been cut.

Brian dives in and scores a takedown into River's guard.

Brian seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

River really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Brian trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Brian fakes high and swings low for a body shot but River manages to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brian thows a left - swing and a miss!
River throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Brian counters with a single leg into guard. River didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brian decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on River, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Brian dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bert River's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Brian drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brian is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but River is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
River tries to buck Brian off but Brian is having none of it.
River is being controlled here.
River tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brian has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of River's body.
Brian punches the canvas rather than the man.
Brian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
River covering up well and avoiding damage.
Brian controls the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
River trying to get back to his feet but Brian is in full control for now.

Brian is cranking River's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for River! He's tightened the choke and River is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daniel Brian!
