Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Marino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lalo Jimenez!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jimenez misses with a leg kick
and Marino counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jimenez misses with a takedown
and Marino counters with a right hand to the body.

Marino drives through and clinches with Jimenez against the cage.
Marino is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jimenez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Marino.
Jimenez can't break the clinch.
Jimenez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marino gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Steve Marino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lalo Jimenez.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marino decides to pull guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jimenez advances position into side control!

Marino on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Marino tries to get out of the position.
Jimenez trying to control the position but Marino is working away.
Marino's coaches at Cozad MMA Los Angeles have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Marino tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jimenez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Jimenez stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Marino shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Marino was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jimenez is looking to reverse the position.
Jimenez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Jimenez gets back to full guard.

Jimenez is looking for a triangle but Marino pushes his legs off easily.
Marino showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Marino wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Jimenez's closed guard. He's half up but Jimenez has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Jimenez pivots and extends the arm, Marino falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Jimenez! Well done that man!

Steve Marino was interviewed post fight and said '"Only the fallen have seen the end of war."'.
