Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Hayes (ranked 4504 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wesley Gutierrez (ranked 4894 p4p, 0 weight class). Wesley Gutierrez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafael Hayes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wesley Gutierrez!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutierrez misses with a head kick.
Gutierrez fails to land the takedown.

Hayes closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gutierrez to the mat! Gutierrez manages to get full guard.

Gutierrez scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Hayes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hayes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gutierrez tries to improve position but can't.
Gutierrez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Gutierrez is trying to maintain the position but Hayes is very close to passing his half guard.

Gutierrez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hayes pulls his head out easily.
Gutierrez tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Hayes has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Hayes lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Gutierrez tries to hold on but Hayes pushes him away.
Gutierrez throws a strike from the bottom but Hayes uses the opportunity to take his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hayes is persistently looking for the submission but Gutierrez is defending it well.
Gutierrez breaks Hayes's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Gutierrez tries to stand but Hayes is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gutierrez wants to control from the top but Hayes keeps moving.
Gutierrez is fighting to break Hayes's control of his arms but Hayes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Gutierrez stopping the sweep attempt from Hayes.
Hayes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gutierrez manages to get himself to full guard.


Gutierrez has an active guard here but Hayes has managed to pass into half guard.
Gutierrez is controlling Hayes's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Hayes swats away the attempt to clinch by Gutierrez.
Gutierrez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Hayes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice takedown defense from Hayes. No joy for Gutierrez on that attempt.
Hayes misses with an attempted mid kick.
Gutierrez looks for a takedown but Hayes sprawls well.
Rafael Hayes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wesley Gutierrez.
Hayes fails to land the takedown.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hayes clinches with his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Hayes dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Gutierrez rushes Hayes and presses him up against the cage.

Hayes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gutierrez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gutierrez lands in his opponent's guard.
Gutierrez wants to control from the top but Hayes keeps moving.
Gutierrez is fighting to break Hayes's control of his arms but Hayes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Gutierrez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gutierrez throws a strike but Hayes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gutierrez is pulling down on Hayes's head to control his posture.

Gutierrez is trying to control the position but Hayes postures up.
Hayes tries to stand but Gutierrez is controlling from the bottom.
Gutierrez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hayes dives into side control.
Gutierrez tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Gutierrez tries to lock up and control but Hayes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hayes scoring with strikes but Gutierrez is staying in there.

Hayes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gutierrez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gutierrez manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Hayes is trying to work for a kimura but Gutierrez is defending well.
Rafael Hayes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hayes is working for a submission of some sort.
Gutierrez is trying to maintain the position but Hayes is very close to passing his half guard.

Gutierrez is defending against the submission attempts here by Hayes.
Gutierrez is looking to control Hayes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gutierrez avoid being mounted?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hayes working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hayes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gutierrez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hayes.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!



Oooooh!!! Gutierrez has knocked Hayes down with a huge combo! Gutierrez steps away and waves a wobbly Hayes back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Hayes is rocked!


It looks like Rafael Hayes has been cut.

Gutierrez shoots in for a takedown. SLAM! Brutal! Hayes is out cold and this one is all over!
