Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jabbar Omarov (ranked 1016 p4p, 133 weight class) and Dean Mason (ranked 1527 p4p, 194 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jabbar Omarov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Dean Mason!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omarov fails with the takedown
and Mason counters with a slapping leg kick.
Omarov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mason counters with an outside leg kick.
Omarov shoots in but no luck this time.
Mason has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Mason keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Omarov.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mason.
Mason scores with a jab. Omarov acknowledges it with a nod of the head.


It looks like Jabbar Omarov has been cut.
Mason jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Omarov takes a jab right on the kisser.
Omarov scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omarov takes one to the side of the head.
Mason misses with a wild body shot.
Omarov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A nice inside leg kick there by Mason. That's going to slow Omarov down.
Mason thuds a left hand into Omarov's body.
Omarov lands a jab to the head.
Mason takes a swing at Omarov's ribcage but misses.
Mason thows a left - swing and a miss!
Omarov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mason counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Omarov just misses with a punch to the body.
Mason misses with a low kick.
Mason throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Omarov changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mason loads up on a big right hand but Omarov slips the punch.
Mason motions for Omarov to come forward. Mason throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Omarov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Omarov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mason.
Mason lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Omarov cracks Mason with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Omarov shoots in for a takedown but Mason shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Omarov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mason connects with an inside leg kick.
Omarov staying out of range there.
Omarov feinted with a counter takedown.

Omarov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mason's guard.
Omarov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mason has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Omarov is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mason breaks the clinch.
Omarov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Mason instigates a clinch.
Omarov goes for a takedown attempt but Mason pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mason dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Omarov. That did some damage!
Omarov throws a looping overhand right but Mason ducks down to avoid it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mason.

Omarov connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
A telegraphed right hand from Mason misses the target.
Omarov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mason as he avoids it easily.

Omarov takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mason throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Omarov misses with a hook.
Mason misses with a wild body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mason staying out of range there.
Omarov swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mason counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Omarov takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mason takes a jab right on the kisser.
Mason tries to bum rush Omarov with a series of wild strikes but Omarov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Omarov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Omarov throws a strike but Mason rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Omarov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Mason dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jabbar Omarov's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mason throws a hook to the side of Omarov's head but Omarov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Omarov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mason.

Mason swings for the body but Omarov moves out of range.
Omarov appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Mason does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Omarov throws the left hand but Mason avoids the punch easily.
Mason has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mason looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Mason misses with a hook. Omarov ducked under it nicely.
Omarov takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mason throws a shot from downtown. Omarov moves away and avoids it.

Mason needs to keep his hands up - Omarov had a free shot at his head there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Omarov.
Omarov misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mason manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Omarov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Omarov not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mason is trying to maintain the position but Omarov is very close to passing his half guard.
Omarov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Omarov is working for a submission of some sort.
Mason is looking for a sweep. Omarov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mason is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Omarov jumps into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mason wants to control but Omarov postures up.
Mason takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The strikes coming from Omarov are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

We've been hearing that Omarov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Mason is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Omarov off and has taken his back!
Mason really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Omarov.

Omarov is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

That's time! Omarov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jabbar Omarov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Omarov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Omarov controls Mason momentarily but Mason frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omarov wants to control the position but Mason says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Omarov is looking to control Mason's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Omarov avoid being mounted?
Omarov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Omarov manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mason content to stall in guard here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Omarov wants to sweep but no luck.

Dean Mason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mason winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
