Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marc Case (ranked 7333 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Smith (ranked 4914 p4p, 0 weight class). Marc Case has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marc Case!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Smith!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.

Case pushes Smith off and gets back to his feet.
Smith throws a head kick that Case semi-blocks.


It looks like Marc Case has been cut.

Case gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Case is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Case gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Case tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom.
Case really is a fat lump.

Smith preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Case would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Smith has control of Case's left arm, preventing Case from doing any damage.
Case wants to stand but Smith is controlling his posture from full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Case gets to his feet. Smith looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Case avoids the elbow strike from Smith, against the cage.
Smith can't break the clinch.
Smith wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Case jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smith walks away with a smile on his face. Case gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Tom Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smith moves into the clinch successfully.
Case is looking to take this one to the mat.
Smith stalling against the cage.
Case tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marc Case. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Case napping and manages to drive through into side control!

An elbow from Smith crashes against the mat.
Smith throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Case prevents Smith from moving into mount.
Smith with the ground and pound but Case regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Case pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.

Case manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Smith keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Smith is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Case tries to pull guard but Smith holds him up against the cage and eventually Case drops back down to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tom Smith will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Marc Case's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Case pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Smith gets a double leg takedown into Case's guard.

Case is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Smith in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Case has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Smith has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Case has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith gets control of Case's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Smith is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Case wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Smith is looking to stand back up but Case counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Smith.
Case not doing much here.

Case is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily.
Case is thwarting Smith's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Case seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt.
Case prevents Smith from improving his position.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Case wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Smith uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Case's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Case wants to stand but Smith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Case lands a couple of digs.
Smith is trying to control the position but Case postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.

Smith manages to pull guard.
Case is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Case trying to stand up but can't free himself from Smith's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Case accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Case gets to his feet - Smith follows without any prompting.
Case tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smith misses with a head kick.

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Case looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tom Smith will probably get the nod - 10:9.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Case throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smith was covering up waiting for the punch and Case finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Smith is looking to stand up but Case isn't so interested in that idea.
Case controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Case wants to stand and escape but instead Smith has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Case throws his legs up looking for a submission but Smith uses it to pass to side control.
Smith wants to take a breather but Case manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Smith.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Case wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.
Case keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Case throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Case has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.
Smith trying to control but Case is working from the bottom.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Case working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Smith content to stall in guard here.
Case might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Case is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him.

Smith trying to control but Case is working from the bottom.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Case is retaining full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tom Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Smith has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smith swings wildly with an uppercut but Case uses good head movement to avoid it.
Case letting Smith take a breather here.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Case throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Case throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Smith throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Case fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Case tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Marc Case has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tom Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Case throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Tom Smith.
I've got Smith winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
