Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Brophy (ranked 1034 p4p, 142 weight class) and Hen Nessy (ranked 1366 p4p, 191 weight class). Brophy comes to the cage accompanied by Last Caress - Metallica. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hen Nessy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nessy lunges at Brophy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Brophy's hand.
Brophy moves out of range as Nessy strikes.
Nessy looks to score with a jab to the body but Brophy is just out of range.
A nice leg kick lands there from Brophy.
Nessy scores with a nice head shot.
Brophy tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nessy is able to avoid easily.
Brophy lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Nessy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
My spies in Art of War Gym inform me that Nessy has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nessy tries to score with some ground and pound. Brophy controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nessy landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Brophy is not content to let Nessy control the position.

Nessy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brophy, who protects the arm well.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hen Nessy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Good leg kick by Brophy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Nessy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

It looked like Brophy was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Nessy.

and Brophy counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nessy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Brophy counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Nessy is breathing heavily.
Nessy throws a lazy uppercut
and Brophy counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Brophy looks at the referee who does nothing so Brophy lands a crushing right that sends Nessy to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.
