The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Akumba.
Mickelson walks into a left hand.

Mickelson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Akumba misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mickelson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Akumba throws a push kick but Mickelson slaps the foot to one side.
Akumba lands a slapping body shot.
Mickelson throws a lazy right hand but Akumba sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It seemed like Mickelson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Akumba fires out a quick counter leg kick but Mickelson just manages to avoid it.
Akumba's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mickelson under the eye.

That has opened up Phil Mickelson's cut even more.

Akumba lands a nice hook to Mickelson's body. Mickelson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mickelson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Akumba.

Akumba is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
