Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Norberto Rivera (ranked 5347 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Diaz (ranked 24845 p4p, 0 weight class). Mario Diaz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Norberto Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mario Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Norberto Rivera has been cut.
Diaz tries to clinch but Rivera is having none of it.
Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Rivera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rivera enables Diaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rivera manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Diaz counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Diaz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Rivera tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Diaz manages to move to mount!

Diaz wants to finish this one by submission but Rivera is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Diaz.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Diaz gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Diaz forces Rivera back against the cage and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rivera tries for a takedown but Diaz manages to get underhooks.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rivera has him pressed against the cage.

Rivera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Rivera counters by clinching up.

Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rivera defends it easily.

Diaz has his feet on Rivera's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Diaz throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease.

Diaz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rivera circles away quickly and effectively.

Diaz shoots in and bounces Rivera off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Rivera controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.
Rivera lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Norberto Rivera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rivera on the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Diaz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rivera, pushing him back against the cage.
Rivera drops down looking for an ankle pick but Diaz pulls his leg out and moves away.
Diaz fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
