Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gary Day (ranked 1132 p4p, 140 weight class) and John Eugemia (ranked 3009 p4p, 325 weight class). Day comes to the ring accompanied by Last minute - Great day to choke you out. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 3, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Eugemia!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Day, right into the meat.
John Eugemia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Eugemia darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Day trying to control here.
Eugemia trying to control from half guard but Day is working away.
Eugemia is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Day definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Eugemia controlling his opponent.
Day is desperately trying to improve his position but Eugemia has a good base and remains in mount.
My spies in Five Round Fight Club NY (50 max) inform me that Eugemia has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eugemia pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Eugemia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Day takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Eugemia fails to take his opponent's back.
Eugemia tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Day is bucking up trying to escape but Eugemia cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Eugemia wants to control the pace but Day is squirming around nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Day sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Eugemia trying to mount his opponent but Day defends it.
Eugemia controlling the action here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Eugemia trying to control the action but Day is working from the bottom.
Eugemia performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Eugemia dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Day swings for the body but Eugemia moves out of range.
Eugemia lets loose with a powerful body kick. Day will feel that in the morning.
Eugemia tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Eugemia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Day misses with an attempted mid kick.
Eugemia waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Day.
Eugemia fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Day appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
A head kick misses from Eugemia.
Day lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Eugemia lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Day leaves Eugemia with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Day takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Day throws a quick inside leg kick.
Eugemia misses with a head kick.
Day tried to counter with a leg kick but Eugemia avoided it.
Day misses with an uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Day misses with a hook. Eugemia ducked under it nicely.
Day lunges at Eugemia with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Eugemia's hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Day feints a jab promting Eugemia to slip. Day then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Eugemia slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


Eugemia is rocked!
Eugemia throws a shot to the body.

Day feints and as Eugemia raises his hands in defense, Day changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Day with a flurry of punches that miss.
Eugemia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Day manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Day is on top in guard.

Day lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Eugemia keeping full guard, as Day tries to pass.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Eugemia preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Day missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Eugemia is trying to control the position but Day postures up.
Day landing with the ground and pound.
Day makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
John Eugemia has got the better of the ground game so far.
Eugemia is trying to keep Day in close.
Day is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Day is looking to work some ground and pound but Eugemia has wrist control.
Eugemia looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Day puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Eugemia is not content to let Day control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gary Day dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Eugemia throws a right and a left that Day avoids nicely.
John Eugemia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Eugemia avoids the head kick by Day.
Day fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Eugemia scores with a nice right hand.
Day throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Day shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Day not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Eugemia blocking the ground and pound attempt from Day.
Eugemia gets back to full guard.

Day drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Eugemia manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Day has Eugemia in his guard.

Eugemia trying to control but Day is working from the bottom.
Eugemia's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Day controlling the position.

Day working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eugemia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eugemia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Eugemia wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving.
Day looking for a sweep. Not yet Day, not yet.
Day can't keep his opponent in guard - Eugemia advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Day is refusing to be controlled, as Eugemia sits in half guard.
Eugemia is just content to waste time from the top position. Day takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Eugemia wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving.
Day throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Eugemia trying to control but Day is working from the bottom.

Day working for a triangle but Eugemia defends it easily.
Eugemia trying to control the position from guard on top but Day is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Eugemia wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving.
Eugemia looking to pass the guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to John Eugemia.
I think Eugemia has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
