Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fletcher Gross (ranked 4857 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxwell Silver (ranked 4393 p4p, 0 weight class). Maxwell Silver is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Silver working hard to break the clinch.
Gross is struggling to control the position.
Silver tries to break the clinch but Gross is controlling the position.

Gross has Silver pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Gross pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Silver tumbling to the mat - Gross dives into Silver's guard.
Gross is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silver wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Gross manages to pass to side control.
Gross takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Silver is trying to maintain the position but Gross is very close to passing his half guard.
Gross is taking a breather. Silver says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silver looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It looked like Gross was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Silver shoots in for a takedown but Gross shows good takedown defense.

Gross clinches up with Silver and pushes him back against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Silver as the two fighters clinch.
We've been informed that Silver has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Gross has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gross's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gross throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silver throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Silver shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gross defends it nicely.
Silver is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gross.

Silver jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gross walks away with a smile on his face. Silver gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gross misses with a hook. Silver ducked under it nicely.
Gross throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Silver.
Gross is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silver can do to turn this around?

Gross could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Silver looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gross is fending him off so far but Silver persists. Nope, Gross circles away and we're back to standing.
