PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emerson Lynn (ranked 6707 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Hippo (ranked 4104 p4p, 0 weight class). Bubba Hippo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No joy there for Hippo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lynn moves into range and clinches up with Hippo.

Hippo manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Lynn is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lynn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lynn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lynn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hippo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lynn is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hippo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hippo has escaped and now he's on top!

Hippo wants to stand but Lynn is controlling his posture from full guard.

Hippo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hippo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Lynn really is a fat lump.
Hippo chips away with some ground and pound.
Hippo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Lynn with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Hippo can't handle though.
Lynn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hippo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hippo is looking to work some ground and pound but Lynn has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hippo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lynn circles away.
OH! Lynn has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Hippo smells blood and charges in for the finish! Hippo unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Lynn sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
