PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Kent (ranked 4426 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skillz Kneeland (ranked 4495 p4p, 446 weight class). Kent comes to the cage accompanied by Ready for war. Skillz Kneeland told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Skillz Kneeland!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kneeland scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Jab by Kneeland.
Kneeland throws a hook to the side of Kent's head but Kent sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A combination from Kneeland does no damage.
Kneeland connects with the punch.

Kent closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kneeland's guard.
Kneeland keeping moving, preventing Kent from controlling successfully.
Kent is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kent wants to pass the guard but Kneeland is keeping the position.

Kneeland is working an open guard so Kent takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kneeland throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kent.
Kent tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kneeland manages to circle out of the way.
Kneeland jabbing away but nothing is landing.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kent.
Kent tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kneeland paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kneeland goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Kent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sloppy strikes from Kneeland. Those never looked like landing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kneeland lands the left hand.

Kneeland has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Kent shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kneeland as he jumps to the side.

Kent drives through with a takedown into Kneeland's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Kent is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kneeland is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kneeland has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kent looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kent on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kent tries to get out of the position.
Kent lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kneeland is trying to hold Kent in close to prevent damage but Kent has managed to pass into half guard.
Kneeland really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kent. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Well, if Kent is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kent throwing shots but Kneeland is blocking nicely.
Kent is looking to take a break and control but Kneeland is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kneeland has hold of Kent's hands but Kent slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kneeland is concentrating on defense, preventing Kent from advancing position.
Kent frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kent lands a nice shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Skillz Kneeland dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kneeland will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Kent is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kneeland sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kneeland has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kent appears to be looking for a big counter.

Kent tries to score a body lock takedown but Kneeland shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Kneeland breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kneeland takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kneeland lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kent looks for a takedown but Kneeland sprawls well.

Kent shoots in for a takedown but Kneeland shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kneeland throws a low kick, looking for Kent's leg but Kent calmly moves out of range.

Kent is rocked!
Kent is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Kneeland doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Kent crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Kent's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Skillz Kneeland!
Alex Kent was interviewed post fight and said 'I gotta be better next time I will be back'.
