Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cliff Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Seth Pentax!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Velasquez darts in trying to clinch

and Pentax counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pentax trying to pass the guard but Velasquez defending well.
Velasquez trying to control but Pentax postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pentax looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Pentax is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Velasquez has managed to free his arm - good work.
Velasquez regains full guard. Nicely done.
Pentax with a nice head shot there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pentax tries to free his leg and advance position but Velasquez is retaining full guard.
Velasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pentax on the ground.
Velasquez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pentax lands a couple of elbows.
Pentax trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom.

Pentax drops back looking for a leg! Velasquez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Velasquez manages to kick Pentax off! Pentax jumps back into Velasquez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pentax slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Velasquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pentax thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Velasquez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pentax with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Pentax drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Pentax seems to have locked his on tight now - Velasquez screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Pentax, as he picks up the win!
