Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Huwan Bagwis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Buster Phoenix!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
A chopping leg kick lands by Bagwis.
Bagwis waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Phoenix.
Bagwis tries to clinch up but Phoenix circles away and keeps his distance.
Bagwis moves into the clinch.
Phoenix is looking to take this one to the mat.
A bit of stalling here from Bagwis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phoenix changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bagwis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bagwis connects with the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bagwis has managed to clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Bagwis.
Phoenix is working for takedown but Bagwis is calmly controlling the position for now.
Huwan Bagwis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buster Phoenix.
Bagwis misses with a shot to the kidneys.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phoenix drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bagwis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bagwis breaks from the clinch.
Bagwis closes the distance and clinches.
Bagwis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A nice inside leg kick there by Bagwis. That's going to slow Phoenix down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Huwan Bagwis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bagwis drops Phoenix with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Phoenix looks back up at him and smiles so Bagwis waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Phoenix is rocked!
Bagwis lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Phoenix up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Bagwis from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Phoenix's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Huwan Bagwis!
