The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maynard gets caught flat footed, as Lopes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Lopes connects with a couple of short punches.

Lopes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Maynard is looking for a triangle but Lopes pushes his legs off easily.

Lopes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maynard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lopes has managed to get both his arms back between Maynard's legs - danger averted.
Maynard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lopes wants to stand but Maynard has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Maynard wants to sweep here but Lopes controlling him for the moment.
