Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Topher Curtis (ranked 1013 p4p, 145 weight class) and Johnny Leroux (ranked 1410 p4p, 181 weight class). The key to victory for Topher Curtis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Topher Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Leroux!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Leroux avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Curtis bucks up and tries to throw Leroux off but instead Leroux has got his back!

Curtis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Leroux gets his way!

Leroux is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Curtis defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Curtis is trying to get back to his feet but Leroux has full control of the position and if anything, Curtis has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Well, with Leroux on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Curtis is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Leroux has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Curtis! Can he survive? No! He's out! Leroux gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Johnny Leroux!
Johnny Leroux decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
The defeated Topher Curtis had this to say: 'Everybody loses sometimes which means he got lucky today. Next time we meet will result in a broken jaw.'.
