PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Young (ranked 24545 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiang Chang (ranked 4722 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jiang Chang was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Denis Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jiang Chang!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Chang.
Young takes one on the button.
Chang lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Chang misses with a double jab.

Young tries to keep at a distance but Chang has taken the fight into the clinch.

Chang breaks the clinch.
Chang swats away the attempt to clinch by Young.
Chang lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chang gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Young tries to pull guard but Chang won't allow it.

Chang breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chang swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Young counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Chang is looking to stand up but Young isn't so interested in that idea.
Young controlling from the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Young. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chang manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Chang moves into the clinch.

Young breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Young is looking to clinch but Chang is avoiding it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chang is looking to slow Young down with leg kicks.
Chang lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Young tries to close the distance and clinch but Chang swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A right-left combo lands from Chang.


It looks like Denis Young has been cut.
Chang darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Chang throws a sloppy head kick

and Young counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chang won't be happy with that.
Young is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Young working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Young is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chang has escaped the position, nice work there.
Chang wants to get back to his feet but Young is dominant here and he's now got Chang's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jiang Chang dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Denis Young's cut.
That's time! Young's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Chang moves into the clinch.

Chang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chang throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Young gets tackled into the cage by Chang. Chang maintains the clinch.
Young is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Chang pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Young drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chang pulls his leg out and moves away.
Chang lands a nice hook to Young's body. Young takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chang lands with a big left! Young is wobbled badly! Chang comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Young to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jiang Chang!
Jiang Chang seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
