PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brad Smith (ranked 4803 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Bergstrem (ranked 5053 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brad Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Bergstrem!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Smith there as he acknowledges the shot.

It looks like Brad Smith has been cut.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bergstrem tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bergstrem to the ground. Bergstrem escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Bergstrem is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Smith drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bergstrem manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smith has Bergstrem in his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bergstrem drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bergstrem jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bergstrem thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bergstrem tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bergstrem on the ground.
Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bergstrem advances to half guard.
Smith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Bergstrem is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily.
Bergstrem wants to take a breather but Smith is having none of it.
Bergstrem is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Smith!
Smith is looking to improve his position but Bergstrem isn't that keen on the idea.
Smith is squirming around, avoiding Bergstrem's attempts to control the action.
Smith keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bergstrem tries to control but Smith wriggling away.
Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bergstrem looking to finish with strikes here!

Smith has left one of his arms exposed and Bergstrem doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Smith screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
