Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Al Sanchez (ranked 4801 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Iovine (ranked 4707 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Iovine!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iovine dives in for a single leg takedown but Sanchez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Sanchez wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Iovine cracks Sanchez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Iovine gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Sanchez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sanchez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Iovine remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sanchez connects with a nice short shot to Iovine's temple.

Sanchez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Iovine fails with the takedown.
Sanchez half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Sanchez gets the takedown into side control.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Iovine has escaped the position, nice work there.

Sanchez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Iovine knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Iovine wants to control but Sanchez postures up.
Iovine is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Iovine is looking to advance position but Sanchez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Iovine wants to hold on but Sanchez pushes him away.
Iovine is trying desperately to improve position.
Sanchez controlling the pace for now.

Sanchez working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Iovine slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanchez is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Iovine looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Iovine gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Iovine had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanchez defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Iovine is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sanchez defends well.
Sanchez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Iovine can do to turn this around?

Sanchez drops back looking for a leg! Iovine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Iovine manages to kick Sanchez off! Sanchez jumps back into Iovine's guard.
Sanchez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sanchez connects with a couple of short punches.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sanchez trying to control but Iovine is working from the bottom.

Iovine has his foot on Sanchez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sanchez works his way back into a safe position though.

Iovine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sanchez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sanchez stands and steps away. Iovine gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Sanchez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Iovine's half guard.

Sanchez wants to work for an arm triangle but Iovine is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sanchez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Iovine sees it coming and defends easily.

Sanchez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sanchez is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Iovine as he works his way to full guard.
Sanchez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Iovine's head.
Sanchez with a flurry of punches that miss.

Sanchez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Iovine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sanchez has managed to get both his arms back between Iovine's legs - danger averted.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sanchez chips away with some ground and pound.
Al Sanchez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Iovine misses with a body shot.

Sanchez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Iovine quickly recovers to half guard.

Sanchez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Iovine is trying to maintain the position but Sanchez is very close to passing his half guard.
Sanchez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Iovine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sanchez is just content to waste time from the top position. Iovine takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Sanchez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sanchez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sanchez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Iovine!

Iovine is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sanchez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Iovine tries to roll over but Sanchez keeps him under control.
Kevin Iovine has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Al Sanchez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Al Sanchez showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanchez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
