The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teixeria avoids the body shot from Alexander.
Teixeria darts in trying to clinch
and Alexander counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Teixeria has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Alexander must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Alexander drops back looking for a leg! Teixeria is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Teixeria manages to kick Alexander off! Alexander jumps back into Teixeria's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Alexander tries to free his leg and advance position but Teixeria is retaining full guard.
Teixeria throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Alexander checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Alexander fails with a takedown attempt.
Teixeria fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Alexander looks to land a combination but Teixeria avoids it well.
Teixeria tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alexander paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Alexander feints the counter takedown.
Nice takedown defense from Teixeria. No joy for Alexander on that attempt.

Teixeria got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alexander has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Teixeria has managed to get both his arms back between Alexander's legs - danger averted.

Alexander escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Teixeria gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Alexander is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Teixeria frees his head nicely. Oh but Alexander has switched to an armbar! Teixeria is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
