PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vicente Lafayette (ranked 2728 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adel Sadeq (ranked 2155 p4p, 0 weight class). Vicente Lafayette could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Adel Sadeq's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Vicente Lafayette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adel Sadeq!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lafayette shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sadeq! But no joy.
Lafayette lands with a cross.

Lafayette gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sadeq has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lafayette is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lafayette throws a punch but it's blocked by Sadeq.

Lafayette escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sadeq throws a shot from downtown. Lafayette moves away and avoids it.
Sadeq is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lafayette.
Lafayette appears to be looking for a big counter.

Sadeq tries to keep at a distance but Lafayette has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sadeq is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lafayette gets through Sadeq's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Lafayette breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good exchange - Lafayette coming out on top.

Lafayette feints and as Sadeq raises his hands in defense, Lafayette changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lafayette throwing strikes from guard but Sadeq blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lafayette advances to half guard.

Lafayette is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sadeq is just riding it out for now. Lafayette eventually gives up the hold.
Lafayette wants to control but Sadeq is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sadeq is looking to control Lafayette's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sadeq avoid being mounted?
Lafayette not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lafayette controlling the action here.

Lafayette is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sadeq doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lafayette.
Lafayette seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lafayette trying to advance position but Sadeq counters by regaining guard.
Sadeq pulls Lafayette in close to prevent any damage.
Lafayette wants to control from the top but Sadeq keeps moving.
Lafayette looking to sit in guard and control but Sadeq gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lafayette is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Lafayette looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sadeq throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've been informed that Sadeq has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Sadeq keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lafayette's head.
Sadeq trying to control the position from guard on top but Lafayette is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lafayette has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Lafayette is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sadeq is aware though and is defending well.

Lafayette has his foot on Sadeq's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sadeq works his way back into a safe position though.
Sadeq postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Sadeq distracts Lafayette with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lafayette not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sadeq is looking to work some ground and pound but Lafayette has wrist control.

Lafayette has his foot on Sadeq's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sadeq works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vicente Lafayette dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sadeq misses with a looping left.
Lafayette throws a big counter combination but Sadeq scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Vicente Lafayette is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lafayette staying out of range there.
Sadeq throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Lafayette to counter with a crisp jab.
Lafayette cracks the inside of Sadeq's front leg.
Sadeq throws a hook but Lafayette avoids it easily.
Lafayette slips a jab from Sadeq.
Sadeq misses with a left hand

and Lafayette counters with a crisp one two that drops Sadeq! Lafayette thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Sadeq to his feet! Sadeq is in big trouble!

and Lafayette counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Sadeq out cold! What a finish! Lafayette is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Vicente Lafayette!
