PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trenton Hahn (ranked 7020 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaylond Sanderson (ranked 3417 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Trenton Hahn has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trenton Hahn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaylond Sanderson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanderson gets the takedown into side control.
Hahn really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Sanderson working the strikes but Hahn uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Sanderson is controlling the pace.
Hahn really is a fat lump.
Sanderson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanderson is nestled in close to Hahn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Sanderson winds up and cracks Hahn with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sanderson wants to stand but Hahn has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanderson passes to side control.
Sanderson controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Sanderson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Sanderson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hahn!

Sanderson looking to control but Hahn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hahn is bucking up trying to escape but Sanderson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Sanderson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sanderson wants to get back to his feet but Hahn is holding on tight.
Hahn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanderson on the ground.

Sanderson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hahn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hahn shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hahn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sanderson is working for a guillotine from mount but Hahn frees his head quite easily.
Sanderson with shots to the head and body - Hahn looks very uncomfortable down there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sanderson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaylond Sanderson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hahn tries to clinch up but Sanderson circles away and keeps his distance.

Sanderson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sanderson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sanderson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Sanderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hahn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hahn can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sanderson controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanderson wants to stand but Hahn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanderson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sanderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hahn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hahn gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sanderson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Sanderson wants to control from the top but Hahn keeps moving.
Sanderson looking to sit in guard and control but Hahn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sanderson holds on and takes a little breather.
Hahn connects with a couple of short punches.
Hahn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Sanderson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hahn defends it easily.

Hahn stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Sanderson throws up his legs and catches Hahn in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Hahn tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Sanderson! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jaylond Sanderson!
