Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Maldono (ranked 6549 p4p, 480 weight class) and Lucas Pablo (ranked 23412 p4p, 522 weight class). Jerry Maldono has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerry Maldono!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Pablo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pablo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maldono has his takedown stuffed

and Pablo moves into the clinch.
Maldono tries to break the clinch but Pablo is controlling the position.
Maldono has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pablo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Pablo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Maldono shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pablo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ground and pound from Maldono seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Lucas Pablo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maldono tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pablo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maldono somewhat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Pablo manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Pablo tries to score a body lock takedown but Maldono shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Maldono's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pablo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Maldono throws a knee to the head but misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pablo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maldono is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Maldono wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Maldono displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pablo.

Maldono closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pablo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maldono doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Pablo is tightening it up a little... Maldono has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Maldono reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Maldono taps out! Nice BJJ there by Pablo!
