Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sheldon Cochran (ranked 7469 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kario Ray (ranked 6163 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sheldon Cochran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kario Ray!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cochran is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ray.

Ray closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ray lands in his opponent's guard.
Cochran trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Cochran tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ray lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ray's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ray content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Ray lands a couple of elbows.
Ray slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ray looking to sit in guard and control but Cochran gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cochran slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ray avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ray trying to control the position.
Ray looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cochran is one step ahead there.
Ray is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ray closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cochran's guard.
Cochran throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cochran striking off his back but it's not causing Ray any problems.
Ray's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ray postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cochran has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ray has passed into side control.

Ray has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ray gets tackled into the cage by Cochran. Cochran maintains the clinch.
Cochran will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Ray up against the cage.
Cochran tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Cochran stalling.
Ray gets underhooks to prevent Cochran's takedown attempt.
Cochran prevents Ray from breaking the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ray scores with a shoulder strike.
Cochran jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ray walks away with a smile on his face. Cochran gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cochran fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kario Ray dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ray avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Ray as Cochran shoots in.
Ray throws a series of punches but Cochran avoids them all with ease.

and Ray counters with a two punch combo.
Sheldon Cochran seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ray pushes Cochran up against the cage in a clinch.
Cochran is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ray to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sheldon Cochran. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cochran throws a knee to the head but misses.
Cochran goes for a takedown attempt but Ray pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Cochran shoots for a double leg takedown but Ray sprawls well. He's pushed Cochran's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ray is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ray takes the fight into the clinch.
Cochran has Ray pushed against the cage.

Ray has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cochran uses from the top position.

Ray is continuing to stall.
Let's hope that Ray has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ray swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ray stuffs the takedown.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ray.
Cochran seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Cochran walks into a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cochran shoots in for a takedown but Ray shows good takedown defense.

Ray closes the distance and pushes Cochran back into the cage.
Stalling in the clinch from Ray.
Cochran throws an elbow that misses.
Cochran drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cochran is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Ray stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kario Ray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Cochran tries to clinch up but Ray circles away and keeps his distance.
Ray unleashes a big counter combination but Cochran bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Sheldon Cochran is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cochran clinches up with Ray and pushes him back against the cage.
Ray has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Cochran goes for a takedown attempt but Ray pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Cochran darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cochran wants to take a breather but Ray is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cochran perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ray keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cochran throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ray to regain full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ray is on top in guard.

Ray engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Cochran is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cochran really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ray gets to his feet - Cochran follows without any prompting.
Ray misses with a few strikes there.
Ray slaps away a takedown attempt from Cochran, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ray throws a series of strikes that have Cochran backpedaling.

Ray has Cochran up against the cage in a clinch.
Ray stalling in the clinch but Cochran improves position.
Ray manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Ray takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cochran tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ray just stands there and leans against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kario Ray comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ray has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
