The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Red shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Red's guard.

Perez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Red is just riding it out for now. Perez eventually gives up the hold.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Perez connects with a nice short shot to Red's temple.

Perez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perez has hold of Red's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Red tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Perez cranks the arm and Red screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Red, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
