PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buster McDiggle (ranked 2441 p4p, 296 weight class) and Connor Mac Burns (ranked 2957 p4p, 343 weight class). Burns has chosen as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Buster McDiggle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor Mac Burns!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDiggle throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Burns throws a body punch but McDiggle moves out of range.
McDiggle appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Burns's coach down at Pablo's Boxing Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Burns's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
McDiggle takes one to the side of the head.
Burns's jab looks to have found its range, popping McDiggle under the eye.
Burns connects with a nice looking jab.
Burns moves into range and connects with a jab.
Burns avoids the head kick by McDiggle.
Burns jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Burns stuns McDiggle with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Burns misses with an uppercut
and Burns takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McDiggle scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Burns doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burns throws a lazy right hand but McDiggle sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A counter left hand to the body from McDiggle misses its target.
Burns throws a jab when McDiggle was well out of range.

Burns slaps away a takedown attempt from McDiggle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Burns misses with a lunging right hand

and McDiggle moves into the clinch.
McDiggle goes for a takedown attempt but Burns pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Burns throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McDiggle has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hare of the Dog Gym in the buildup to the fight.
McDiggle avoids the body shot from Burns.
McDiggle takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Burns lands a jab to McDiggle's midsection.
McDiggle slips a straight right by Burns.
Burns throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Burns throws a leg kick
and McDiggle counters with a two punch combo.
McDiggle defending well as Burns loads up on a big left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burns lands a nice shot that snaps McDiggle's head back.
McDiggle slips under a jab from Burns.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McDiggle moves out of range of the strikes.
Burns misses with a takedown attempt - McDiggle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Burns has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Connor Mac Burns has been cut.
McDiggle swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Burns.
Burns dodges the punch combination from McDiggle.
Burns scoring well with a low kick there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Connor Mac Burns will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


McDiggle takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Buster McDiggle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Burns misses with a hook. McDiggle ducked under it nicely.
McDiggle steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Burns.
McDiggle takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McDiggle tries to bum rush Burns with a series of wild strikes but Burns uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Burns misses with a hook. McDiggle ducked under it nicely.

Burns gets the takedown into side control.
Burns wants to lay and pray for a moment but McDiggle keeps working.
McDiggle is trying to improve his position.
Burns trying to control the action but McDiggle is working from the bottom.
Burns wants to take a breather but McDiggle manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Burns.

McDiggle keeping moving, preventing Burns from controlling successfully.

McDiggle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burns gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McDiggle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McDiggle wants to sweep here but Burns controlling him for the moment.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McDiggle swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burns wants to control from the top but McDiggle keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDiggle is keeping the position for now.
McDiggle throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Burns tries to free his leg and advance position but McDiggle is retaining full guard.
Burns is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
McDiggle trying to control the position here.
McDiggle is trying to keep Burns in close.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Burns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McDiggle is keeping the position for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor Mac Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Burns misses with a telegraphed body shot
and McDiggle counters with a stiff right hand.
Burns looks to throw the jab but McDiggle is out of range.
Buster McDiggle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
McDiggle moves out of range as Burns strikes.
McDiggle throws a big counter combination but Burns scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as McDiggle checks a leg kick.
Burns tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Connor Mac Burns seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McDiggle uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Burns.
Burns throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A quick step to the side and McDiggle tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Connor Mac Burns is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Burns does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burns lands with an overhand left.
Burns tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McDiggle was well out of range. Poor timing from Burns.
Burns fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
McDiggle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A nice side step and Burns releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

McDiggle looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Burns scores with the left hand. McDiggle knows he should have avoided that one.
Burns shoots in but McDiggle avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Burns bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Burns shoots in and bounces McDiggle off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Burns pushing down on McDiggle's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
McDiggle gets full guard.
Burns trying to control but McDiggle is working from the bottom.
Burns has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Burns forces his way into half guard.
Burns wants to pass to mount but McDiggle is defending the position.

Burns wants to work for an arm triangle but McDiggle is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Connor Mac Burns comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Burns winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
