PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Nate Baker Jr (ranked 4189 p4p, 410 weight class) and Blitz Wolfman (ranked 4514 p4p, 428 weight class). Blitz Wolfman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nate Baker Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blitz Wolfman!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolfman lands with an uppercut that bounces Baker Jr off the ropes and back into range.
The fighters circling - Wolfman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Baker Jr tries to clinch up.
Baker Jr wants to clinch up but Wolfman keeps it at a distance.
Baker Jr misses with a combination
and Wolfman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wolfman has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Baker Jr is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Wolfman throws out a loose jab but Baker Jr uses good head movement to avoid it.
Baker Jr thinks about countering with a body kick.
Baker Jr moves in looking to clinch but Wolfman pushes him off.
Baker Jr swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Wolfman.
Wolfman lands with a right hand.
Baker Jr scoring well with a low kick there.
Baker Jr has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Wolfman finds it's way round the side to connect with Baker Jr's head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Baker Jr lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wolfman has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wolfman and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Wolfman throws a half hearted mid kick.
Baker Jr is looking for a counter combo.
Baker Jr throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wolfman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wolfman misses with a straight left.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wolfman avoids a kick to the body.
Baker Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Baker Jr tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Wolfman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Baker Jr throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Baker Jr thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wolfman if he has to take too many more of those.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Baker Jr fails to land with a series of punches.
Baker Jr moves out of range as Wolfman strikes.
Wolfman on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Wolfman swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Baker Jr tries to counter by clinching up but Wolfman breaks away and moves out of range.
Wolfman thuds his shin into the meat of Baker Jr's side.
Wolfman scores with a crisp jab that stopped Baker Jr in his tracks.
Wolfman takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Wolfman lands a glancing blow to the side of Baker Jr's head.
Baker Jr looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Baker Jr misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wolfman.
Wolfman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Baker Jr has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Wolfman uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Baker Jr.
Wolfman lands a jab.
Baker Jr is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wolfman connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of Baker Jr's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked Baker Jr - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Blitz Wolfman!
