PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Buford Castro (ranked 24469 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soloman Hope (ranked 4832 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Buford Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Soloman Hope!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Hemmingworth and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Hope.
Castro avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hope fails with a takedown attempt.

Hope closes the distance and clinches up with Castro, looking for a takedown. Hope pushes Castro against the cage but Castro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hope.
Buford Castro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Soloman Hope.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hope dives in for a single leg takedown but Castro sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
No luck for Hope with that takedown attempt.

Castro clinches up with Hope and pushes him back against the cage.

Castro has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hope clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Castro lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Castro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hope on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hope wants to control his opponent's hands but Castro gets his hands free.

Castro connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Hope to escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hope is looking to get back to full guard here but Castro has managed to pass to side control instead.

Castro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hope is trying to trip Castro. He has hold of a leg but Castro is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hope persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Hope is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hope seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hope pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Castro has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Hope wants to control from the top but Castro keeps moving.

Soloman Hope showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Buford Castro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
