PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Frederick (ranked 24870 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beam Scotty (ranked 4655 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roger Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Beam Scotty!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scotty comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Scotty tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Frederick counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Frederick.

Frederick is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Scotty is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Scotty wants to control the position but Frederick says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frederick working the head and body with strikes.
Frederick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Scotty wants to stand back up but Frederick manages to pass into side control.
Check out the look on Frederick's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Frederick decides to stand back up. Frederick steps back and let's Scotty get back to his feet.
Scotty tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Frederick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Scotty throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Frederick on the side of the head.
Frederick dodges the punch combination from Scotty.
Frederick tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Scotty manages to circle out of the way.

Scotty takes the fight into the clinch.
Scotty holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Frederick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scotty missing with knees to the body.
A body shot lands from Scotty.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scotty tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Scotty misses with a punch on the inside.
Frederick tries to circle away but Scotty has him pinned against the cage.
Scotty trying to stall but Frederick improves his position.
Frederick just leaning against Scotty, taking a breather.
Scotty lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Frederick backwards.
Scotty will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Frederick up against the cage.
Scotty prevents Frederick from breaking the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Frederick blocking some punches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Frederick tries to break free but Scotty pushes him back against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Frederick as Scotty tries to tie him up.
Scotty trying to stall but Frederick improves his position.
Scotty is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Frederick has denied him.
Scotty displaying some good clinch control by pressing Frederick up against the cage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Beam Scotty.
Scotty throws a nice looking combination but Frederick bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Frederick has closed the distance and engaged Scotty in a clinch.
Scotty misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Frederick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A nice left hand lands by Scotty.
Scotty lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Come on Frederick - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Scotty scores with a shot to the side of Frederick's head.
Frederick wants to break free but Scotty has control.
Scotty is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Frederick is defending well for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frederick prevents a body shot from Scotty.
Scotty slows down the pace here.
Scotty holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Scotty continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beam Scotty dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Scotty throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Roger Frederick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Scotty tries to close the distance and clinch but Frederick swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Frederick shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Scotty tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Frederick manages to move to mount!
Scotty looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Frederick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scotty is in bad spot here.

Frederick has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scotty trying to control the hands but Frederick breaks the grip.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Frederick looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Scotty taps!
