Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Black (ranked 2970 p4p, 340 weight class) and Georgi Konds (ranked 4532 p4p, 452 weight class). Joe Black could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Georgi Konds's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Georgi Konds!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black shoots for a double leg takedown but Konds sprawls well. He's pushed Black's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Black moves away from the strike by Konds.
Black tries to clinch but Konds moves out of range.
Konds throws a right and a left that Black avoids nicely.
Konds throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Black.
Konds just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBlack.
Konds keeps the fight on the outside.
Konds looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Black slips a jab and a cross from Konds.
No luck for Black with that takedown attempt.
Black fails with an attempt to clinch.
Konds falls off balance throwing a combination

and Black counters with a nice double leg into side control. Konds won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Konds is looking to regain half guard here but Black keeps moving and retains side control.
Black lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Konds prevents Black from moving into mount.
Konds tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Konds's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Check out the look on Black's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Konds is looking to regain half guard here but Black keeps moving and retains side control.
Konds is trying to control Black's posture but Black avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Konds is trying to control Black's posture but Black avoids it.
Konds tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Konds can do anything to dispel that myth.
Konds trying to control but Black flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Konds trying to control the action but Black just sinks the hooks in.

Black controlling well, preventing Konds from escaping the position.
Konds trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Black is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Konds up.
Konds has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Black.
Black is hanging on to Konds's back as he tries to escape.
Konds turns into Black and is now in his guard.
Konds wants to stand and escape but instead Black has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Konds controls Black momentarily but Black frees himself.
Konds keeping full guard, as Black tries to pass.
Black scoring with some ground and pound.
We've been hearing good reports from Black's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Konds looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Black lands a couple of digs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Black loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Black is working Konds over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Black fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Konds throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Konds with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Black shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Konds sprawls well. Konds wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Black gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Black. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Joe Black is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Konds jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Black takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Konds lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Joe Black has been cut.
Konds lands a nice hook to Black's body. Black takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sloppy strikes from Konds. Those never looked like landing.
Konds connects with the punch.

Konds gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Black to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Konds is trying to control the position but Black postures up.

Konds pushes Black off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Konds fails to land with a series of punches.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Black.

Konds keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Konds scores with a punch to the head.
Georgi Konds seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Konds misses with a double jab.
Black jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch but Konds swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Konds connects with a looping right hand.


Black is rocked!
Konds lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Black out cold! Black is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Georgi Konds!
