Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Duane Cooke (ranked 23754 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kario Ray (ranked 6009 p4p, 0 weight class). Duane Cooke has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Duane Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kario Ray!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray ducks right into an uppercut from Cooke.
Cooke shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ray tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Cooke counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Duane Cooke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cooke fails with the takedown
letting Ray counter with a right hand.
Ray throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cooke misses with a wild body shot.
Ray is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Cooke misses with a combination
and Ray counters with a three punch combo that has Cooke backing up. Cooke nods at Ray to acknowledge the strikes.

Ray scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Sloppy strikes from Ray. Those never looked like landing.
Cooke with a lazy takedown attempt
and Ray counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duane Cooke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cooke keeps the fight on the outside.
Ray tries to clinch but Cooke is having none of it.

Cooke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ray to the mat! Ray manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ray lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ray stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cooke swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cooke seems keen to control Ray's posture.
Ray forces his way into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cooke tries to get to full guard but Ray has control of the leg.
Ray slows the pace down in half guard.

Ray wants to control but Cooke is keeping him busy.
Cooke wants to get back to his feet.
Ray perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ray seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cooke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cooke throws a right and a left that both miss.
Horrible takedown attempt by Cooke or perhaps it was just good defense by Ray, which made it look bad.
Ray throws a right hand that Cooke ducks under and follows up with a left that Cooke also avoids with ease.
Ray misses with the combination.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ray fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kario Ray dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cooke shoots in but Ray avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ray looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ray looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cooke shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ray as he avoids it easily.
Ray scores with a jab. Cooke acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Cooke changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Kario Ray seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The fight stays on the outside here - Ray looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ray drives through with a takedown into Cooke's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Cooke is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cooke keeping moving, preventing Ray from controlling successfully.
Ray throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ray has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cooke will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cooke holds on and takes a little breather.
Ray seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ray misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cooke.
Cooke looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ray is looking for the big counter here.
Ray throws a right hand that Cooke ducks under and follows up with a left that Cooke also avoids with ease.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cooke tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ray sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cooke somewhat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ray displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cooke.
Ray unleashes a big counter combination but Cooke bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Kario Ray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ray looks to land a combination. Cooke sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Ray lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Cooke misses with a takedown attempt - Ray sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Cooke shoots for a double leg takedown but Ray sprawls well. He's pushed Cooke's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cooke really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cooke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ray wants to control the position but Cooke says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Cooke wants to work for an arm triangle but Ray is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Cooke is looking for a kimura but Ray is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cooke to get the leverage.

Cooke decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Cooke darts in looking for a takedown but Ray gets double underhooks and turns Cooke into the cage.

Cooke goes for a double leg but Ray avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ray continues to drive forward.
As Cooke backs off Ray throws a huge counter combo but Cooke manages to avoid it all.
