Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jenik Krejza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Steel!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krejza has Steel up against the cage in a clinch.
Steel wants to stall.

Krejza is fighting off a takedown attempt but Steel is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Krejza to the mat. Krejza regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Krejza manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Steel pulls Krejza into guard.

Krejza has gone for a leg lock! Steel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Krejza's guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Krejza wants to stand and escape but Steel is having none of it.

Steel trying to control the position from guard on top but Krejza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Steel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Steel gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Krejza tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Steel swivels and escapes.

Steel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Steel showed some decent athleticism there.
Krejza is trying to stand up here but Steel is controlling him well.

Krejza has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Steel off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Krejza is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Steel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Steel has escaped and now he's on top!

Krejza manages to escape and get back to his feet.

A head kick misses from Steel.

Krejza throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Steel tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Krejza is in Steel's guard.
Steel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's time! Krejza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Krejza throws an overhand right that lands on Steel's shoulder, as Steel tries to avoid the shot.
Despite the aggression on Steel's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Krejza lands a high kick!
Krejza pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Steel takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Krejza clinches with his opponent.

Krejza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Krejza throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Steel closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Krejza's guard.

Krejza has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Steel is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Krejza pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Steel tries to clinch up but Krejza circles away and keeps his distance.
Jenik Krejza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Krejza closes the distance and clinches.

Krejza jumps guard and drags Steel to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Krejza pushes Steel off and scrambles back to his feet.

Steel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Krejza's guard.
Krejza wants to sweep here but Steel controlling him for the moment.
Krejza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Krejza scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Steel gets the takedown into side control.
Steel wants to control but Krejza is keeping him busy.

Steel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Steel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Steel decides to stand back up. Steel steps back and let's Krejza get back to his feet.
Steel tries to clinch up but Krejza circles away and keeps his distance.

Krejza closes the distance and pushes Steel back into the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Krejza pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Steel looking to score a takedown here. Krejza is defending well but Steel drives through and ends up in Krejza's guard.
Krejza wants to stand but Steel is controlling the position.
Krejza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Steel can do to turn this around?

Krejza cracks Steel with a solid left hand.
Krejza is looking to advance position but Steel has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Krejza tries to hold on but Steel pushes him away.
Krejza is trying desperately to improve position.
Steel pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Steel moves to the back.
Krejza rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Krejza wants to get back to his feet.

Krejza makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Krejza swats away the attempt to clinch by Steel.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Krejza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Krejza escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Krejza rushes Steel and presses him up against the cage.

Steel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Krejza uses from the top position.

Jenik Krejza overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Krejza is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Steel has managed to free his arm - good work.

Krejza is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Steel to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Krejza chips away with some ground and pound.
Krejza postures up and lands a big shot to Steel's brow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Steel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Krejza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Steel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Steel is trying to control the position but Krejza postures up.

Krejza is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Krejza passes Steel's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Krejza is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Steel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Krejza.

Krejza lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Steel on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Krejza is trying to control. Steel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Krejza escapes and gets back to his feet.

Steel gets caught flat footed, as Krejza shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Krejza accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Steel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Krejza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Steel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Krejza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
